Katherine Zimmermann is passionate about reducing conflict in family law cases and strives for amicable solutions and agreements whenever possible. She became a mediator to further those efforts, developing conflict resolution skills that she passes on to our clients. She enjoys supporting clients in reaching for their goals by strategizing, negotiating and remaining focused on the future they want.

Ms. Zimmermann earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Economics from West Texas A&M University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then earned her Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, attending on a Dean’s Scholarship. During the last year of law school, Ms. Zimmermann worked as a student attorney in the SMU Civil/Consumer Clinic. She has practiced family law for more than a decade, previously working for two well-respected, boutique family law firms in the Dallas area. Ms. Zimmermann is experienced in complex property and child custody cases and is also trained in collaborative law.

Ms. Zimmermann has worked as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law. She has completed 70 hours of mediator training. She has volunteered at the Dallas County Dispute Resolution Center since 2022.

Ms. Zimmermann is currently a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and the Texas Association of Mediators. She is also a former member of the Patrick E. Higginbotham Inn of Court, the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court, and is an alumni of the 2021 Dallas Bar Association’s WE LEAD program.

In her free time, Ms. Zimmermann enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dogs, and tap dancing. She volunteers at Partners Resource Network as a parent leader, at All Moms as Legal Chair, and is in the Richardson ISD Ambassador Class for 2024-25.

“Goals can vary widely depending on individual circumstances. I listen to my clients and what they want for their own lives and factor that into how each case is handled. This journey is stressful for most people on multiple levels. To help reduce those stress points, I have always believed in looking at the client’s situation holistically and Hargrave Family Law does that too. We cater to each client as an individual, using both traditional and creative approaches and solutions to help our clients navigate some of the most difficult times of their lives. I am thrilled be a part of this team and practice alongside some of the best.”
