Misty Cole spent her early legal career as a civil litigator handling civil rights, discrimination, construction, product liability, and premises liability cases for clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. As a solo practitioner in 2009, Misty transitioned into a family law practice to apply her breadth of experience to serve families going through divorce. With over 23 years of experience as a litigator, Misty brings a wealth of both legal and personal experience into her representation of each client. Recognizing the importance of the family and the individual, Misty strives to be the calm in the emotional storm, guiding her clients toward a more peaceful future. While battle tested in the courtroom, Misty embraces the philosophy that families benefit from amicable resolutions leading to increased chances of harmony after litigation. Misty’s goal is to reduce the financial and emotional burden that is often part of family law litigation by reducing conflict. Misty is delighted to be part of the Hargrave Family Law team that values the core values of both the individual client and their family and focuses on creative solutions.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Misty attended Oklahoma State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Journalism. Misty received her Juris Doctor in 1999 from The University of Tulsa College of Law, graduating With Honors. Misty was licensed to practice law in Texas (2001), Oklahoma (1999), and Colorado (2009). She is also admitted to practice in several of the federal courts in Oklahoma and Texas. Misty is a member of the Texas Bar Association Family Law Section, and both the Collin County and Denton County Bar Associations and a member of the Family Law Sections of both.

“It is important for every person to have an advocate who, while empathetic, is honest and straight forward. I believe that as an advocate for my client, it is my responsibility to find solutions to meet my client’s legal as well as personal goals.” Being a part of the Hargrave Family Law team allows Misty to support clients in a compassionate and intentional way. “It is refreshing to be part of a team that helps our clients focus on their future with hope. I consider it an honor to be a part of our clients’ journey.”
