Topic: Focus on Distance Education and Special Learning Needs

Summary of Topic: Parents accustomed to sending their children to school, are suddenly in the role of overseeing their children’s education through the use of distance education. For children with special learning needs, this can present a special challenge. Most parents are not educational specialists. These issues can be compounded when you have children going between two homes. On this webinar, we spoke with Dr. Matthew Housson, who is the owner and founder of the Housson Center. The Housson Center provides psychological and educational services for children of all ages.

Dr. Matthew Housson is a licensed psychologist who received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1996. He worked for seven years at the University of Texas at Dallas, Callier Center, Department of Psychology, where he completed developmental assessments of preschoolers and Psychoeducational Evaluations of school-aged children. He has more than 20 years’ experience diagnosing autism, attention disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders.  In addition to evaluation, Dr. Housson works with families to identify appropriate educational environments for their children and also provides individual and family therapy to address behavioral and emotional concerns.

About Ryan McLemore:  Ryan’s career started in 2002 with Citigroup’s Marketing Division.  He then branched out on his own in 2006, launching marketing firms across the US and Canada.  After successfully selling his company in 2009, he landed at The Five Star Institute, the nation’s top conference and media outlet for Distressed Real Estate and Mortgage Banking.  In 2013, he identified a huge void in the agent/ broker arena.  The industry’s need for an authentic, hands-on, full-service Realtor, capable of mastering buyer, seller and investor relationships simultaneously lead to his career transition.  In 2015, Ryan met his future wife, who was a Procurement Engineer at Lockheed at the time.  In 2018, Allyssa resigned and partnered with Ryan as a full-time Realtor.  In June of 2019, they were married, making the McLemore Team official on all fronts!     

Ryan was born and raised in Waxahachie, TX and holds a BBA from Oklahoma Christian University. He enjoys bird hunting, fishing, golf, officiating football, and his 4 month old Chocolate Lab.

Paula Miltenberger, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and founder of Women’s Mental Wellness. She received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Miltenberger received specialized training completing her APA-accredited internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship in Women’s Mental Health within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. She has advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. Dr. Miltenberger has been personally trained and certified by Dr. Alice Domar, of Harvard Medical School and The Domar Center, to lead the Mind/Body Program for Infertility.  She served as a Clinical Supervisor for doctoral students from UTSW Medical School as well as the Women’s Psychology Service at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas.

Dr. Miltenberger works closely with internal medicine, obstetricians, gynecologists, reproductive endocrinologists, oncologists and psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care for women. Dr. Miltenberger enjoys educating physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers on the importance of women’s mental wellness. Dr. Miltenberger is a published author on issues related to loss and perinatal depression.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Miltenberger is a consulting psychologist for Medical City Dallas’ Women’s Hospital, where she works with women experiencing high risk pregnancies, as well as candidates for fetal surgery.
